Description of post: The Department of English Studies, University of Cyprus, announces one (1) position at the rank of Lecturer/Assistant Professor in the area of Literary Translation (including theatre) . Eligible candidates are required to be fluent both in English and Greek. Knowledge of additional languages would be an asset. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of the Department’s new section Translation Studies by teaching practical translation courses as well as theoretical courses in Literary Translation in relation to Intercultural Studies. According to the Law of the University of Cyprus, all candidates must have successfully completed their PhD-Degree by the date of application. Closing date is August 27, 2010.

Description of post:
Lingnan University, a distinctive liberal arts institution in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, is committed to the provision of quality education distinguished by the best liberal arts traditions. The Translation Programme sets out to provide an education in bilingual studies which can produce graduates with competence in Chinese and English as well as a capacity to think for themselves. One of its central features is the equal emphasis on translation as a profession and as an academic discipline. Another feature is the importance attached to the socio-cultural environment of the Chinese and English languages. The appointee will be required to teach courses in one or more of the following areas: translation (including legal or/and business translation), interpreting (English and Cantonese or/and Putonghua), linguistics, translation and culture. Excellent command of Chinese and English is a must, and experience of teaching translation (both theory and practice), interpreting, or comparative literature/linguistics will be an advantage. The Department of Translation and Language Sciences at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain) is interested in hosting a senior researcher funded through the "ICREA Senior" program. The target research areas are Interpreting and Translation Studies (audiovisual translation, localisation, specialised translation, etc). ICREA (Catalan Institution for Research and Advanced Studies) is a foundation jointly promoted by the Department of Innovation, Universities and Enterprise of the Catalan Government, and the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRI). In this year's call ICREA has announced 25 posts (in all fields of research) for strong candidates with excellent leadership capabilities and an outstanding research record. ICREA researchers, although employed directly by ICREA, work in a host university or research center in Catalonia. Candidates apply directly to ICREA.
